Today, the South-Korean producer Samsung announced the launch of the first memory chip on the market that combines the RAM memory and the NAND flash storage on a single component called ePoP. We get to know that this first unit brings 3 GB LPDDR3 DRAM memory and 32 GB space of internal storage.

Also, thanks to its size, this new chip can be easily mounted above the processor without taking any additional space. From the technical point of view, we discover that the RAM memory operates at a data transfer rate of 1,866 Mb/s and that it offers a 64-bit bandwidth.

In the same time, the smartphone manufacturers will be getting a free space once using this chip, space that can be used for the integration of other components, or maybe for a bigger battery. This ePoP chip has a thickness of only 1.4 mm.
