Synology’s new DiskStation neo+ range brings a lower-entry configuration to its NAS lineup while retaining the ability to add memory, drives and faster networking later. The four-model family spans two-, four-, five- and eight-bay systems, and will be sold alongside the existing DiskStation Plus series.
Each model ships with 4GB of DDR4 non-ECC memory, a configuration intended to reduce the initial purchase cost. RAM can be expanded to 32GB, including ECC memory for users seeking error detection and correction capabilities. The preinstalled non-ECC memory must be replaced when moving to ECC modules, as the two memory types cannot be used together.

Four models, from two bays to expandable eight-bay storage
- DS725neo+: Two bays, an AMD Ryzen R1600 dual-core/four-thread processor running at 2.6GHz with boost up to 3.1GHz, one 2.5GbE port, one Gigabit Ethernet port and two M.2 NVMe slots for SSD cache. A DX525 expansion unit can raise the drive count to seven.
- DS925neo+: Four bays, an AMD Ryzen V1500B quad-core/eight-thread processor at 2.2GHz, two 2.5GbE ports and two M.2 NVMe slots. With a DX525 expansion unit, it supports up to nine drives.
- DS1525neo+: Five bays and an AMD Ryzen V1500B processor, with two 2.5GbE ports and support for a 10GbE upgrade through Synology’s optional E10G22-T1-Mini module. Two DX525 expansion units can bring the system to 15 drives.
- DS1825neo+: Eight bays and an AMD Ryzen V1500B processor, with support for two DX525 expansion units and up to 18 total drives. Its PCIe 3.0 x8 slot, using an x4 link, supports compatible 10GbE or 25GbE network adapters.

The new systems run Synology’s DiskStation Manager operating system, which provides storage, user and service management. Synology Drive enables private-cloud file access and synchronization across devices, while Surveillance Station can manage and record footage from IP cameras.

Synology’s Active Backup suite also supports backup workloads across desktop systems, virtual machines and cloud-service data.

Synology expects to introduce the DiskStation neo+ series in Europe at the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2026. The company has not announced official pricing for any of the four models, and availability outside Europe remains unconfirmed. The key remaining question is how far neo+ pricing will sit below comparable DiskStation Plus systems once regional sales begin.
