Data tied to 3,615 Trump Mobile customers has reportedly been published online following a cyberattack linked to Liberty Mobile, the mobile virtual network operator behind the service. Reports indicate the attackers gained access through malware installed on a Liberty Mobile employee’s device, rather than by directly breaching Trump Mobile’s infrastructure.

The group claiming responsibility, BYOD, said it contacted Trump Mobile after the incident and was told the company did not have a dedicated cybersecurity team. Trump Mobile representatives reportedly characterized the group’s actions as terrorism. The reported exposed information also included data related to Eric Brunnett, vice president and CIO of the Trump Organization.

There is no indication that data belonging to President Donald Trump’s family was included in the reported leak. The precise categories of customer information exposed have not been detailed in the available reporting.

The incident follows a separate customer-data exposure issue reported in May. Trump Mobile has also faced scrutiny around its T1 handset: the phone arrived months after the network launched, and, after “Made in America” messaging was removed, it was identified as a modified version of the HTC U24 Pro. The latest alleged breach puts renewed attention on the security arrangements between Trump Mobile and the MVNO supporting its service.
