Xiaomi has put its 18 Fold on display at IFA 2026 ahead of its official September 7 launch in China, revealing a book-style foldable that appears shorter and wider than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8. The passport-like proportions extend to both the cover screen and the inner folding display, potentially giving the outer panel a more conventional phone-like shape.

The handset is currently being shown behind glass, with no press access for hands-on testing. Xiaomi has also withheld the full specification sheet, including the exact screen sizes, camera hardware, battery, memory configurations and pricing.

One confirmed component is Xiaomi’s own XRING 03, which the company describes as a flagship AI SoC. The chip integrates CPU, GPU and NPU elements alongside dedicated AI-processing hardware. Xiaomi has not yet disclosed its clock speeds, manufacturing process or performance figures, but its use in the 18 Fold would move this flagship away from the Snapdragon or MediaTek platforms commonly used in the segment.

The IFA unit features a bright red finish and a large rear camera module carrying Leica branding. Camera specifications remain unconfirmed, as do any plans for sales outside China. Those details are expected when Xiaomi formally introduces the 18 Fold on September 7.
