The man you can see below is WiTricity Corp. CEO Eric Giler, who has recently talked to BBC about the future of power and wireless charging. He also mentions a new way to power electric cars in the video below, but it’s the handset charging we’re really interested in:

Giler claims that in 12 to 18 months, consumers will be able to buy a wireless phone charger and we don’t mean Palm Pre’s accessory, but a truly wireless solution, no contact involved. Too bad that WiTricity’s CEO didn’t mention any price for his new gadget/tech, although we might be seeing an affordable solution after all.

Expect it to hit the market in 2010, if everything goes as planned!
