LG had some pretty interesting announcements to make at CES 2011, among which there were the unveilings of hot smartphones like the Revolution, Optimus Black and Optimus 2X. The LG G-Slate LTE tablet was also mentioned, at some point, but there’s a bit of something extra everyone missed…

We’re talking about the mystery smartphone in these pictures and video below. No one knows what it is, but the folks of Gadget University have some interesting theories. This unnamed handset, placed apart from the other models seems to incorporate future technologies developed by LG, like some perfected version of the iPhone’s Retina Display.

You might be aware that LG Optimus Black is the first device to use the 4 inch NoVa screen, much brighter than any other rival on the market. Well, the same technology will be used on this smartphone, that might also support 3D capture or visualization. It’s supposed to have an 8MP camera, Tegra 2 CPU, but these are speculations and wishful thinking, to be honest…
