Motorola ATRIX was marketed as “the world’s most powerful smartphone” when it was launched and now comes the ATRIX 2, for now available in its very first leak of images and details. The handset isn’t an LTE device as we expected, but rather a normal next-gen handset.

By normal we understand a dual core smartphone with a 1.2 or 1.5GHz CPU of the TI OMAP kind, supposedly. There’s also an 8 megapixel camera on board with 1080p HD capture and Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread as the OS. No info about the exact launch date, but the handset is expected in the following months, if everything goes well.

Around Thanksgiving time we should see this phone surfacing in stores, so keep your eyes peeled for it. Another thing worth mentioning is that I think Motorola might cannibalize a product or two with this new ATRIX, that’s not so different from recent or future Droid models. What will make the difference here?
