Motorola has positioned the Signature 27 as a flagship that makes its camera hardware central to its visual identity. Announced on September 22 at the Snapdragon Summit, the phone pairs the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset with a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera offering Super Zoom Pro up to 100x.

The rear camera assembly occupies a substantial portion of the phone’s upper back, combining smooth ceramic with brushed aluminum rather than attempting to conceal the lenses in a flatter panel. Motorola is using the different surface finishes as a deliberate part of the handset’s design.

  • PANTONE Capulet Olive has a softer-looking texture inspired by brushed textiles and interior design.

Those textured backs sit alongside an aluminum frame and the ceramic camera section, giving the Signature 27 several visibly distinct materials. It is a clearer break from the look of Motorola’s Edge line and follows the first Signature model’s move away from conventional glass-backed flagship design.

Audio is another new element: the Signature 27 is Motorola’s first phone with Audio by B&O, following a new multiyear partnership with Bang & Olufsen. The collaboration joins Motorola’s existing use of Pantone-branded colorways in a broader attempt to differentiate the Signature range beyond its headline specifications.

Motorola has also previously used its Blue Touch Tech scent, developed with fragrance company Firmenich, in packaging for some phones, including the original Signature. The company has not confirmed whether the Signature 27’s final retail packaging will retain that feature.

Commercial availability details for the Signature 27 have yet to be confirmed. That leaves Motorola’s camera processing, final software experience and market rollout as the key remaining details behind a handset that is already taking a more recognizable visual direction.
