Motorola is replacing Bose with Bang & Olufsen for the audio development of its future premium phones. The global, multiyear partnership will first appear on the Motorola Signature 27, which is expected to carry Audio by B&O branding when it is unveiled on September 22.

The arrangement is positioned as more than a branding deal. Bang & Olufsen engineers are set to contribute to acoustic tuning, sound modes and audio processing for upcoming Motorola flagships. Teaser imagery for the Signature 27 shows the Audio by B&O mark beside its camera array, along with two speaker grilles at the top of the phone.

  • Dolby Vision support
  • 100x Super Zoom

Motorola has also teased the Signature 27’s unusual camera module and the features above, but it has not yet confirmed the handset’s processor. Its September 22 presentation coincides with the Snapdragon Summit, suggesting a next-generation Snapdragon platform could be involved, though the specific chip remains unconfirmed.

The move marks a broader premium-audio repositioning for Motorola. The current Motorola Signature uses Sound by Bose tuning, stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos and a Bose-tuned equalizer, while the company’s Bose collaboration has also extended to products such as the Moto Buds 2 Plus. There is no confirmation yet that future Moto earbuds will receive Bang & Olufsen branding.

Motorola says the B&O work will extend across multiple flagships and potentially a wider ecosystem. Pricing, market availability and the Signature 27’s final Snapdragon configuration are among the details still due at the launch event.
