The global quadruped robot market shipped more than 49,000 units in the first half of 2026, up 92.5% year over year, according to IDC. Total market value exceeded $400 million, a 95.4% increase, putting six-month shipments close to the roughly 58,000 units delivered during all of 2025.

MetricFirst half of 2026Year-over-year change
Global shipmentsMore than 49,000 units+92.5%
Total market valueMore than $400 million+95.4%
Professional-application revenueMore than $270 million+125.1%
Professional-application deploymentsMore than 19,000 units+260.5%
Industrial-manufacturing market value$76.75 million+194.2%
Industrial-manufacturing deploymentsMore than 4,100 units+537.9%

Consumer, education and research use cases account for about 60% of shipments but less than one-third of revenue. Governments, factories, utilities and other professional customers buy fewer than 40% of units while generating more than two-thirds of market revenue. That split points to a business increasingly driven by inspection, safety and specialized operational work rather than demonstrations alone.

Quadruped robot market growth is increasingly led by industrial applications

Industrial manufacturing is growing particularly quickly. Deployments in that segment rose 537.9% from a year earlier. IDC sees the category progressing beyond basic patrol and inspection systems toward platforms combining cameras, sensors, AI, robotic arms and task-specific equipment.

Competition shifts from mechanics to deployment

IDC highlights a mix of Chinese vendors with cost, manufacturing and supply-chain advantages, alongside companies focused more heavily on industrial and specialist deployments.

Quadruped robots are moving from demonstrations toward professional and industrial deployments
  • Unitree is a prominent supplier in the broader quadruped robotics market.
  • DEEP Robotics leads the professional-applications segment, according to IDC, with deployments for industrial inspection, power-grid work and emergency response.
  • AGIBOT is among the Chinese manufacturers highlighted by IDC.
  • Micbot is among the Chinese manufacturers highlighted by IDC.
  • ANYbotics is positioned toward industrial, energy, government and specialized operations.
  • Boston Dynamics is positioned toward industrial, energy, government and specialized operations.

The next competitive test is likely to be less about speed or eye-catching movement and more about software, field data, reliability and integration into existing workflows. Those factors will determine whether quadruped robots become durable industrial infrastructure or remain costly showcase machines.
