Reports of Android Auto trouble are emerging from Samsung Galaxy users installing One UI 9, Samsung’s Android 17-based update. The reported failures range from interface stuttering and input delays to an inability to connect the phone to a vehicle’s infotainment system at all.

Complaints have appeared on Reddit, Samsung’s official community forums and Google’s support community. The number of affected devices does not appear to be large so far, but the similarities between reports point to a potential software issue rather than entirely isolated cases.

One comparison highlighted by Android Authority adds to the suspicion around One UI 9: a Galaxy S25 Edge running One UI 8.5 reportedly worked normally with Android Auto, while a Galaxy S24 Ultra began showing the reported problems after its One UI 9 update. That is not a controlled test, however, as the phones and other connection variables differ.

Google has said it is working on an update to address the issue. Samsung has not yet announced an official fix or identified which Galaxy models, vehicle systems or Android Auto connection methods may be affected, leaving the timing and scope of a resolution unclear.
