Samsung Notes is beginning to flag text processed through Galaxy AI’s Note Assist. In version 4.4.48.15, a notice reading “This text was generated using AI” appears beneath the result in the tool’s preview window, according to testing by SamMobile. The disclosure is not a permanent watermark: it disappears once the user copies, adds or uses the result to replace the original text.
The notice can appear even when Note Assist has not written new text from scratch. It was seen with both Auto Format and the spelling and grammar checker, meaning text written entirely by the user may receive the AI-generated label after Galaxy AI makes minor corrections or restructures it.
Note Assist is Samsung Notes’ Galaxy AI suite for formatting, summarizing, correcting and translating content. Samsung Notes also supports typed notes, lists, sketches and S Pen handwriting, placing the new disclosure within one of the company’s core productivity apps.
Samsung’s approach for text differs from its handling of generative images. The company says images saved from Creative Studio and related generative tools can carry a visible AI watermark over the finished image. The Samsung Notes label, by contrast, is limited to the in-app review stage and is not embedded in the note itself.
That makes the update a transparency cue rather than a durable provenance marker. The broader wording may nevertheless raise questions when Note Assist’s involvement is limited to punctuation or grammar edits rather than generating the underlying text.
