Microsoft appears to be testing a clearer way to decline OneDrive backup in Windows 11. On some PCs running the stable Windows 11 25H2 release, the familiar “Remind me in 3 days” choice has reportedly been replaced by an “Opt out of backup” button, allowing users to explicitly reject the cloud-backup prompt rather than postponing it.
The change concerns the Windows screen that recommends enabling OneDrive backup. Previously, delaying the decision would bring the same prompt back after three days. An opt-out control would make the user’s preference unambiguous while leaving OneDrive’s backup features available to those who want to store files, settings and other data in Microsoft’s cloud.
Microsoft has not broadly announced the revised interface. Windows Latest reported seeing it on two systems running stable Windows 11 25H2 builds, so it may be part of a gradual rollout or a controlled test rather than a change available to every user.
Windows 11 25H2 has also brought changes to the Start menu, taskbar and search experience. Whether the OneDrive opt-out button becomes a standard part of the release remains unconfirmed.
