After reading some reports concerning a new issue on Windows Phone 7, Microsoft decided to take action. We’re talking about the “phantom data” transfers taking place on these devices, according to several users quoted by BBC. The complaints come from forums and people are saying that the handsets are depleting their monthly share of data traffic.

Some users have even mentioned up to 30 or 50MB of data being sent from their handsets each day. Rumor has it that these transfers could be feedback for Microsoft in order to let them know how WP7 is working. Most of the complaints come from the States and one of the users measured the idle data usage, reaching 2-5MB per hour.

A problem could also be the usage of 3G connection even when WiFi is available, but that can be fixed through an update. Microsoft promised to investigate and fix the problem and we’re surely looking forward for an explanation.
