Xiaomi has begun a limited international rollout of HyperOS 4, its Android 17-based operating system, for the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The release is initially restricted to users enrolled in the Mi Pilot program, so it is not yet broadly available to all owners of either phone.
The installation package is about 3GB and includes the September 2026 Android security patch. Xiaomi has issued the following builds for the first wave:
- Xiaomi 17, global: OS 4.0.0.9.XPCMIXM
- Xiaomi 17 Ultra, global: OS 4.0.0.8.XPAMIXM
- Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Europe: OS 4.0.0.11.XPAEUXM
The update introduces Xiaomi’s “Soft Light Glass” interface treatment, with translucent elements, light-refraction effects and more distinct visual separation between interface layers. The changes extend to menus, Quick Settings and widgets.
- Super AI 2.0 adds a floating AI assistant, real-time voice translation and meeting-note generation.
- The native keyboard gains an AI toolbar for rewriting, correcting and context-aware text composition.
- Lock-screen customization expands with glass-style clocks, depth-effect wallpapers and notification grouping.
- Xiaomi says it has removed some older software components and rewritten certain system apps in Rust to reduce memory use, improve responsiveness and manage battery consumption more efficiently.
Xiaomi has not provided a final global timetable for the broader HyperOS 4 rollout. Availability will expand gradually and may vary by model and region, leaving the timing for non-Mi Pilot users unconfirmed.
