Opera Mini surely has some statistics to pride about, since it’s used by more than 20 million unique monthly users worldwide. The magic number has been celebrated with the release of Opera Mini 4.2, the newest version of the mobile browser.

Opera Mini runs on Java platform and is used specially on Symbian mobile phones, coming from the top handset producers at a global scale. The opera family also includes Opera Mobile, which is used on spmartphones running on Windows Mobile.

The Opera family spread its branches in the mobile world after earning a place for itself among the top PC internet browsers. Opera Mobile now already has some tough competitors, looking to catch a chunk of the market, such as Skyfire or Fennec, which should turn out as being strong competition, just as Firefox turned out to be for Internet Explorer.
