A newly shared Weibo image may offer an early look at how Huawei plans to differentiate the rear camera modules across its Mate 90 lineup. The image shows five camera-cover templates labeled for the Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro, Mate 90 Pro Max, Mate 90 RS, Mate X8 and the already released Mate XT 2.
- Huawei Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro: a circular module with two concentric rings, an open central area and three cameras positioned around the outer ring. The apparent layout places two cameras at the sides and one at the bottom, with an LED flash and two smaller cutouts above.
- Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max: a denser circular arrangement with four larger cutouts. The periscope camera appears to sit at the side, while the flash moves to the bottom of the module.
- Huawei Mate 90 RS: a broadly similar camera layout to the Pro Max, integrated into the octagonal rear module associated with Huawei’s RS editions.
- Huawei Mate X8: a labeled template is visible, but the image does not provide enough detail to confirm its camera hardware or final arrangement.
- Huawei Mate XT 2: a labeled template is also included, though its camera specifications cannot be determined from the image.
The Mate 90 series has not yet been formally unveiled. Huawei held major events in Munich on September 2 and in China on September 7, with the latter featuring its new triple-foldable device rather than the expected Mate 90 phones.
Earlier expectations have pointed to Kirin processors for the Pro and RS models, a revised design around the three front-facing cutouts, and new video-capture features. The Weibo image does not confirm those details, a launch date, or the final camera specifications for any Mate 90 model.
