We’ve just learned that Droid 2 might come with Froyo straight from the box and its supposed launch date was moved from August 23rd to the 12th, but there’s more news concerning the device. Apparently, the handset will stay true to its name and become available in a special R2-D2 Star Wars edition.

This version of the handset will feature the famous little robot on the back cover and if you remember, the original Droid was also accompanied by R2-D2-related press material. Verizon sent the press robot toys to promote the device, but this is where the connection with the famous sci-fi movie stopped.

Should we expect this brand pairing to continue in the future? What about connecting the Droid to movies like “A.I”, “I am robot” or… “Robocop”?
