vivo has confirmed that the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max will be the first smartphones unveiled with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 Pro. The flagship chipset is built on a 2nm process, and the two phones are scheduled to launch in China on September 21.
The timing puts vivo one day ahead of OPPO’s Find X10 Pro Max, which OPPO has also confirmed will use the Dimensity 9600 Pro and is set to be announced on September 22.
vivo is also positioning the X500 Pro models around advanced camera and video processing. The company says the phones will support 4K recording and output at 120 fps in 10-bit Log, a format intended to provide greater flexibility during video editing.
- An Imaging NPU 2.0 that vivo says enables autofocus at 60 fps.
- An in-house image-processing chip for 4K Dolby Vision portrait video recording.
- A new high-performance AI processor, although vivo has not yet detailed its role.
vivo has not announced wider release plans, pricing, or full specifications for the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max. Those details may arrive at the September 21 launch event, where the company will show whether its one-day chipset debut translates into a broader advantage over OPPO’s upcoming rival.
